Removing a mailbox filter stops that particular rule from processing future incoming mail. It does not remove the mailbox, its folders or unrelated global filters, and it does not reverse earlier deletions or forwarding.

Prepare for the change
Identify the full mailbox address and retain a copy of the rule before deletion. Check whether its destination is part of a business workflow, such as an accounts inbox or support queue, so the change does not silently interrupt that process.
01 Delete a filter from one cPanel mailbox
- Open Email Filters and select Manage Filters beside the correct mailbox.
- Locate the rule under Current Filters. If several names are similar, inspect the conditions and actions before selecting the deletion control.
- Choose Delete for that rule, review the confirmation, then select Delete Filter.
- Review the remaining rules and send a new message that would have matched the removed rule. Confirm where the mail is now delivered.
- Update any internal instructions that told users to find those messages in a redirected location or special folder. Keep the saved rule until the new behaviour is accepted.
Confirm the expected result
The rule should no longer appear in that mailbox’s list, and new matching mail should follow the remaining delivery configuration. Existing messages stay wherever they were previously stored.
Why does a deleted mailbox filter appear to remain active?
If the old behaviour continues, check account-wide filters, forwarders, mail-client rules and any remote mail provider. Deleting a local rule cannot remove a rule configured in a desktop client or another service. Recover previously discarded messages only through an available backup or another valid copy.
