Deleting a mailbox revokes its login and removes the mailbox resource. Preserve any business records and decide how future mail to the address should be handled before proceeding; deletion is not the same as temporarily stopping a user’s access.

Prepare for the change
Export or migrate the required messages and verify the copy opens independently. Review devices, website SMTP settings and external services that still use the mailbox. If the address must continue receiving mail, plan an authorised replacement or alias.
01 Delete a SiteWorx mailbox without losing needed messages
- Open Hosting Features > Email > Mailboxes and identify the complete address, including its domain.
- Confirm the retained message copy and any handover arrangements. Resetting a password may be the better first step when access must be revoked before an export is finished.
- Use the mailbox’s delete or trash action and read the confirmation carefully. Delete only the selected mailbox after acknowledging the data impact.
- Remove its saved credentials from approved devices and applications. Configure the planned forwarding or replacement address separately where required.
- Test a new message to the retired address and confirm it is handled according to the new plan rather than silently relying on a catchall.
Confirm the expected result
The mailbox should disappear from the list and its old login should fail. Verify the replacement route and the preserved historical messages.
Does recreating a deleted mailbox recover its old messages?
If the wrong mailbox was deleted, contact support promptly with the address, time and available backup details. Recreating the address creates a mailbox but does not restore historical messages. Do not assume a desktop IMAP cache contains a complete independent backup.
