Removing starter content helps visitors see your own information instead of demonstration material. Review posts, pages and comments separately, because each has its own administration screen and a sample page may already be used by your menu or homepage.

What should I check before deleting sample content?
Open the public website first and note the homepage, navigation and any sample links. Imported themes or starter designs can contain useful layout examples as well as disposable content. Keep a draft copy of a layout you intend to reuse, and check Settings, Reading before deleting a page assigned as the homepage or posts page.
01 Remove the unwanted examples
- Open Posts > All Posts. Find the demonstration post, review its title and content, then use Trash.
- Open Pages > All Pages. Review demonstration pages and move only the unwanted ones to Trash. Pages are not removed from the Posts screen.
- Open Comments. Review the sample comments and move unwanted items to Trash. Keep genuine visitor comments and any discussion you need to retain.
- Update navigation links, buttons and any homepage selection that referred to a removed item.
02 Verify the public result
View the homepage and navigation while signed out. Follow links that previously led to sample content and check the blog listing. If the old content still appears, clear the relevant page cache before assuming deletion failed.
Moving content to Trash normally leaves a recovery opportunity until it is permanently deleted or automatically purged according to the site's configuration. Restore an accidentally removed post or page from its Trash view and recheck its publication status and menu links. Deleting a sample post does not automatically clean every imported image, menu or template; inspect those separately instead of running a broad media deletion.
