SolusVM can reset a guest administrator credential when the image and service support the operation. This is separate from changing your SolusVM account password and does not revoke SSH keys or application credentials.

Prepare for the change
Confirm the VPS ID and maintain a working console or recovery route. Check that the server uses a supported image and required guest integration. Current SolusVM disables the root-reset action when the server is booted from an ISO or rescue ISO.
01 Reset a VPS root or Administrator password in SolusVM
- Open the intended server and choose its guest-password reset action. Read the prompt to identify which account will be affected.
- If the interface lets you specify a password, generate a unique value and store it securely. If the platform generates the new credential, obtain it through the authorized result or notification route.
- Submit once and monitor the task. Follow any required operating-system or power-state instructions; do not assume a forced power-off is necessary.
- Test the changed credential in a fresh guest session before closing your existing access. If SSH is configured for keys only, use the appropriate console or policy-compliant login path.
- Update authorized dependencies and review other privileged access if this reset followed suspected exposure.
How do I test the reset server password?
Confirm the correct guest administrator can authenticate and the old password no longer works where password login is allowed. SolusVM account access and guest access should be tested separately.
If the change does not work
If reset is unavailable in rescue mode, finish the recovery procedure or use an operating-system recovery method appropriate to that environment. For an unsupported image or failed guest-tools operation, ask support before rebuilding. Reinstallation is destructive and should not be used as a password reset when you need to preserve the server.
