A redirecting domain pointer sends visitors from another domain to the selected main domain. Unlike an alias, it is intended to change the browser destination to the main site rather than keep the additional name in the address bar.

Check access and requirements
You must control the source domain and select the correct target domain in DirectAdmin. Confirm the source domain is allowed by your plan and is not already configured as a separate site. Plan its DNS and HTTPS certificate before sending visitors to it.
01 Create a redirecting domain pointer in DirectAdmin
- Select the target main domain in the panel domain selector.
- Open Account Manager > Domain Pointers and choose Create Domain Pointer.
- Enter the additional domain in Source Domain without a protocol or path. Leave Create as an Alias cleared for redirect behavior.
- Create the pointer and configure the source domain DNS to reach the correct hosting server. A registrar nameserver change is required only if you are moving authoritative DNS; matching existing nameservers is not a reason the pointer would fail.
- Make sure HTTPS connections to the source name can present a valid certificate before redirecting. Check how the destination handles www, paths and query strings.
How do I test the redirecting domain pointer?
Visit the source domain in a fresh browser session and verify the final URL, status and destination content. Test both HTTP and HTTPS routes your visitors may use and at least one existing inner page.
Resolve setup problems
If the wrong site loads, inspect DNS, selected target domain and any application redirects. For redirect loops, check whether the target sends visitors back to the pointer. Do not delete the main website or change mail routing as a guess. Use an alias instead only when retaining the extra hostname is intentional.
