An additional FTP account gives a person or deployment tool access to an assigned directory without sharing the main panel login. Restrict its home directory to the smallest area needed for the task.

Check access and requirements
Confirm the service permits additional FTP users and decide the exact directory they may manage. Create a dedicated account for each responsible person or tool so access can be revoked independently.
01 Create a restricted FTP account in SiteWorx
- Open Hosting Features > FTP > Accounts, choose the correct domain and select Add FTP Account.
- Enter the username and a unique generated password. Review the complete username displayed by the panel because a domain component may be part of the login.
- Set Home Directory to the intended folder. Do not leave an unnecessarily broad account directory when the user only needs a website subfolder.
- Create the account and configure an authorised transfer client with the service’s actual hostname, protocol and port. Use the supported encrypted FTP connection, verify the server certificate and ask support for the correct secure settings if they are unclear. Do not send the credential over a plain unencrypted FTP connection.
- Test a new connection, inspect the visible path, and confirm the user can perform the required upload without accessing unrelated website data.
Confirm the expected result
The account should appear with the expected domain and directory. Use a harmless test file to prove write access, then remove it after checking.
What if the restricted SiteWorx FTP user cannot list or upload files?
If directory listing or upload fails, check the assigned path, quota and permissions before expanding access. An FTP account does not automatically grant SSH or SFTP access. Use suspension or deletion when the temporary work ends, and retain the main hosting password privately.
