A full subscription backup gives you a recovery copy of the hosting data included in the selected backup scope. Create one before a significant website change and keep an independent copy outside the hosting account. A successful backup job still needs a restore test before you rely on it.

Check access and requirements
Confirm the correct subscription and available storage. Review whether website files, databases, mail and configuration are included. A subscription backup does not back up an entire self-managed server or an external email platform. For a busy shop, plan how application writes will remain consistent during backup.
01 Create and download a full subscription backup in Plesk
- Open the subscription in Plesk and choose Backup & Restore. Select Back Up in Backup Manager.
- Select the data to include and choose a full backup. Include configuration and content needed to recover the service, rather than selecting configuration alone.
- Choose an available local or configured remote destination. Add a useful description, such as the change ticket or release being protected, and review any exclusions.
- Start the job once and monitor its status. Do not launch repeated copies while the first job is running. Read warnings even when the job appears to finish.
- For an independent download, use the completed backup entry and its download action. If Plesk offers password protection for sensitive credentials, keep that password separately. Store the downloaded archive in access-controlled storage.
How do I verify the Plesk subscription backup?
Confirm the timestamp, scope and plausible archive size. Check that the download completed and that every volume is present if the backup is split. Test a representative restore into a separate suitable environment when possible.
Resolve setup problems
A failed remote transfer may leave a local backup but no usable off-server copy. Resolve quota, connection or permission errors and rerun only after checking the destination. Do not delete the last known good backup to make room without arranging another recovery copy.
