This changes a credential inside the virtual server, where supported. It is different from changing the Virtualizor account password, and it does not automatically revoke SSH keys, application passwords or API tokens.

Prepare for the change
Confirm the target VPS, supported operating-system template and availability of password-reset integration. Save a new unique password securely. Keep a working console or administrator session open when possible and arrange downtime if the panel requires a stop and start.
01 Change a VPS root or Administrator password in Virtualizor
- Open the VPS management view, then Settings > Change Password.
- Enter the new guest administrator password in the requested fields and submit the change. Review the response rather than assuming the job finished immediately.
- Follow the specific application instructions shown by your installed version and virtualization type. Some setups can apply a password through a guest agent; others require the VPS to stop and start.
- If a power cycle is required, shut the guest down cleanly before Start. Do not use forced Power Off unless the guest cannot be stopped normally and you accept the risk.
- Test the new credential through an authorized guest login before closing your existing recovery access.
How do I test the reset operating-system password?
Confirm the correct operating-system account accepts the password. If SSH permits keys only or Windows policy restricts login, a changed password does not override those access rules. Store the verified credential and update legitimate dependent integrations.
If the change does not work
If reset fails or the image is unsupported, use the documented rescue or operating-system recovery route with support. Do not reinstall merely to reset a password when data must survive. For compromise, also review keys, accounts and application credentials because the panel password reset has a limited scope.
