Where JetBackup is included, a retained file recovery point can restore a missing or damaged file without rolling back the whole account. Available dates and selection controls depend on the provider’s jobs, permissions and backup format.

Prepare for the change
Identify the exact path and last known-good time. Save the current file if it contains changes you may need. Check whether recovering this file also requires matching database or application-version changes.
01 Restore one file with JetBackup when it is included
- Open JetBackup from the hosting panel and choose the Home Directory or file-backup area.
- Select the appropriate recovery point by its timestamp. For an incremental backup, use Change Files Selection and browse to the exact file or folder.
- Save the file selection and choose Restore. Review the final summary to ensure unrelated account components are not selected.
- Read the available overwrite or merge behaviour and provider conditions. If you need to replace an existing damaged file with its historical version, confirm the chosen mode will do that. A merge mode that prioritises live data may keep the current file instead. Review these choices before confirming Restore Selected Items.
- Monitor the queue until completion, then inspect the recovered file and test the affected application function.
Check the backup or recovered data
The intended path should contain the expected historical content, while unrelated files remain unchanged. Verify permissions and application compatibility after recovery.
If the change does not work
Archived or compressed home-directory backups may not support individual file selection in the same way. Download the package or ask support for a supported selective recovery instead of restoring the entire account by mistake.
Why is yesterday’s version unavailable?
Retention and backup scope are service-specific, and a failed or excluded job may not contain that file. Check the actual available recovery points; do not assume every plan stores every day indefinitely.
