Connecting a supported calendar or contacts client to cPanel

Compatible CalDAV and CardDAV clients can synchronise calendars and contacts supplied by an enabled cPanel mail service. Use the connection information shown for the mailbox instead of copying a server address from an old tutorial.

Check access and requirements

Confirm the service exposes calendars and contacts and that your chosen application supports the relevant protocol. Back up existing local calendars and address books before merging or moving data.

01 Connect a supported calendar or contacts client to cPanel

  1. Sign in to the mailbox’s Webmail home and open Calendars and Contacts Configuration.
  2. Copy the displayed username and secure server URL. Use the mailbox password, and keep the exact endpoint or alternate principal URL supplied for that account.
  3. In the client, add a CalDAV account for calendars or a CardDAV account for contacts. Select a manual setup if automatic discovery fails.
  4. Choose the intended collections. If a new collection is needed, create it through Calendars and Contacts Management rather than assuming Roundcube can create every collection directly.
  5. Create a harmless test event or contact, synchronise and verify it from a second supported view. Edit it there and confirm the change returns to the original client.

Confirm the expected result

The test should demonstrate synchronisation in both directions and preserve existing data. Check the chosen calendar when creating an event so it is not saved only to a local device calendar.

Resolve setup problems

If authentication fails, test the mailbox login and exact secure endpoint. If discovery fails, use the supplied alternate URL. Browser output at a DAV endpoint is not a reliable human-readable service test. A mail client’s ordinary IMAP support does not imply DAV support.

Does removing the client delete the server calendar?

Removing a local account and deleting a server collection are different actions. Read the client’s confirmation and keep an export before any operation that removes synchronised data.
