Add a domain registered elsewhere to your DNS Manager

You can manage DNS for a domain registered with another company when your Nabtech service includes an allowance for custom domains. Registration stays with the current registrar. This process creates a DNS zone and verifies your control of the name.

Check access and requirements

Keep access to the registrar and the current DNS provider. Export or record the existing DNS entries, especially website addresses, MX records, mail authentication, verification records and any subdomains. Make sure your qualifying service is active and has space for another zone.

01 Create the ownership request

  1. Open your account's DNS zones view.
  2. Choose the option to add a custom domain and enter the domain, such as example.com. Use the domain itself rather than a web page address.
  3. Select the qualifying allowance shown for your account.
  4. Request the verification details. Copy the exact TXT host and value that the manager generates.
  5. At the domain's current authoritative DNS provider, add that TXT record. If the provider appends your domain automatically, enter only the relative host label needed to produce the full hostname shown.
  6. Return to the manager and verify ownership. Once verification succeeds, create or set up the DNS zone.

02 Prepare the records before moving traffic

The manager can also recognise control when the domain is already delegated to the platform's nameservers. For a domain carrying a live website or email, TXT verification is useful because you can prepare and inspect the new zone before changing delegation. Do not move a working domain to an empty zone simply to complete verification.

Compare the new zone with your existing records. Publish the correct records and confirm the expected nameservers from the manager. When you are ready, change nameservers at the registrar and keep the previous DNS service available while cached answers expire. DNSSEC needs a separate coordinated DS-record transition if it was enabled with the old provider.

Why is domain ownership verification still pending?

Check the TXT record on the current authoritative DNS, not merely in a control panel that the domain no longer uses. Preserve the complete token, avoid accidental spaces, and watch for a doubled domain suffix. Verification requests expire after 24 hours; request fresh details after expiry. Wait at least 30 seconds between checks. If the name already has a managed zone or belongs to a different account record, contact support so ownership can be reviewed.
