Check whether a domain renewal message or invoice is authentic

Verify a renewal message against the authenticated account before paying or approving a transfer. A domain name, familiar logo and correct public expiry date can all appear in a fraudulent message.

01 Check the request independently

  1. Open the known Nabtech client-area address from your own bookmark or type it directly. Do not begin from an unexpected payment link.
  2. Locate the domain and compare its actual invoice, amount, currency and due date with the message.
  3. Check whether the message concerns renewal, a transfer, directory advertising or another product. A solicitation can look like an invoice.
  4. If anything differs, contact support from the signed-in account and provide the message or headers for review.
  5. Pay or approve changes only after confirming the specific authorised operation.

Is a renewal demand from ICANN legitimate?

ICANN states that it does not send registrants domain renewal requests, expiration reminders or registration-data verification requests. A message claiming that you must pay ICANN directly to retain an ordinary domain registration should therefore be checked with your actual provider.

Legitimate registrar verification messages can exist, so do not ignore every notice. Verify the request in the account or with the provider before acting, especially if it asks you to reveal a code or change the registered holder.

What if I already clicked or entered information?

If you disclosed a password or recovery code, access the provider through its known address and follow its account-security recovery process promptly. Change the affected credentials, review authorised users and sessions, and inspect domain contact, nameserver and transfer activity. If payment information was disclosed, contact the payment provider using its official channel.

Do not approve a transfer you did not request. Report the exact domain, message time and observed account changes to support. Keep the suspicious message and headers, but avoid forwarding active secrets or identity documents to an unverified sender.

Make renewal verification part of the finance workflow. Staff who receive invoices should know the approved account provider and responsible domain owner, so an urgent-looking email does not become the sole authority for a payment or change.
