Configure a HostBill gateway only after confirming that the merchant account, installed module and intended payment workflow are compatible. The module's availability does not establish that your merchant account supports every currency, recurring payment or refund feature.

01 Activate and configure the gateway
- Choose the current supported integration for the provider. Check the HostBill module documentation and your merchant account's permitted countries, currencies and payment methods.
- Open Settings > Modules > Payment Modules. Choose Activate modules if needed, select the gateway and activate it.
- Enter the provider-specific credentials from the correct merchant account and environment. Keep test keys, live keys and webhook signing secrets clearly identified.
- Configure the customer-facing module name and any supported currency-conversion settings. Check that the customer can understand the currency and amount that will actually be charged.
- Complete the gateway's callback or webhook configuration. Copy the endpoint provided by the installed module and use its documented events and authentication settings.
- Test a successful payment, a declined or incomplete payment and a callback that updates the invoice. If you intend recurring collections, test the separate customer-authorisation and stored-payment workflow.
- Switch to live credentials only after the controlled test passes. Review product or customer restrictions that determine where the gateway is offered.
02 Verify the first production receipt
Compare the provider transaction, HostBill transaction and invoice balance. Confirm the expected payment method, currency and reference, then check any downstream account creation. Record how staff should investigate a payment that succeeds externally but does not update HostBill.
Common questions
Why does an active gateway not appear at checkout?
Check supported currency, customer or product restrictions, module configuration and the selected order page. Activation alone does not make a gateway valid for every invoice.
Can I reuse one provider's credentials in a different gateway module?
Only when the provider and HostBill documentation support it. Integration types may require different keys, permissions, customer tokens or webhook events even under the same payment-provider brand.
