Suspend a HostBill service when the authorised outcome is a temporary restriction. Termination can remove the remote account and its data, so it requires a separate verified decision and recovery plan.
01 Check the reason and target
- Open the account under Orders & Accounts. Verify the customer, provider connection, remote identifier and reason for the action.
- For nonpayment, review the actual invoice balance, recent transactions, credit and any payment-processing delay. Check client overrides and an account-specific suspension exception.
- For an agreed extension, use Override account suspension for the approved period or date. Record the agreement and review date rather than silently changing unrelated billing data.
- For an authorised restriction, use the supported Suspend action and inspect the result in the Account Log. Verify the remote service state and the customer-facing message.
- After the reason is resolved, confirm the applicable unsuspension rule or perform the authorised Unsuspend action. Check the remote service and essential customer access again.
02 Handle cancellation and termination
Review a cancellation request's timing, related services and retained data before processing it. Immediate and end-of-cycle requests have different scheduling implications. Check the product's automatic cancellation settings and the account queue to see when the action will run.
Before termination, confirm the correct account, customer approval or applicable policy, required exports and backup scope. HostBill's documented termination action removes the remote account while retaining the HostBill account record. Keeping that billing record does not preserve the deleted website or mailbox contents.
Common questions
Why was a manually unsuspended account suspended again?
The unpaid condition and automated suspension rule may still apply. Resolve the billing issue or record an authorised temporary suspension override.
Does a hosting cancellation also cancel the domain registration?
Do not assume that it does. Review each related service and domain separately, including renewal settings and the customer's actual request. Avoid deleting a domain as an incidental part of hosting cancellation.
