Creating a WordPress page with the block editor

wordpress

Create a WordPress page for content such as an About page, service description or contact information. Pages are separate from blog posts and can be organised hierarchically, but publishing one does not by itself guarantee that it appears in your intended navigation.

01 Decide the page's purpose

Choose a clear title, the information visitors need and the action they should take next. Check whether an existing page already serves the same purpose. Editing an established page often preserves useful links better than publishing a near-identical replacement at a second URL.

02 Build the draft

  1. Open Pages > Add New Page with an account allowed to create pages. Enter the title.
  2. Add paragraphs and headings through the block inserter. Use other blocks only when they help convey the information.
  3. Add your own images, meaningful link text and a relevant next action. Replace every sample address, telephone number and demonstration statement.
  4. Review the page settings, including URL slug, parent page, template and visibility. Leave the page as a draft while working.
  5. Preview the draft at different screen sizes. Check the content inside the actual theme, then publish when the final confirmation details are correct.

How will visitors find the new page?

Add an appropriate link to your navigation, footer or another relevant page. A published URL can exist without appearing in a menu. If this should be the homepage, assign it through the site's reading settings rather than creating a page titled Home and assuming WordPress will use it.

03 Verify and revise

Open the public URL while signed out and test every link and form. Confirm that the title is not duplicated awkwardly by both the template and your first content block. Check long paragraphs and button labels on a phone-width screen.

If the page looks different from the editor, inspect the selected template and theme styles before adding arbitrary spacing blocks. Keep subsequent corrections on the same page and select Update. If you need an unpublished review copy, use a deliberate draft workflow instead of changing a working public page's URL without a redirect plan.
