MultiPHP Manager selects the PHP runtime for a domain or virtual host. Choose a currently supported version compatible with the application, themes and extensions rather than selecting the oldest available version simply because a legacy guide names it.

What you need before you begin
Back up the site and database, record the current version, and test the change on staging where available. Check required PHP extensions and the application vendor’s supported versions. A shared document root can tie related domains to the same PHP-FPM configuration.
01 Select a PHP version for a cPanel domain
- Open MultiPHP Manager in cPanel and locate the intended domain. Review its current PHP version and PHP-FPM indicator.
- Select only the domains you intend to change, then choose the required available version from the PHP Version menu.
- Choose Apply and wait for the update. If a required version is missing, ask support about availability instead of copying arbitrary handler rules into .htaccess.
- Test the application’s homepage, administration, forms, uploads and scheduled tasks. Web PHP and command-line PHP can use different executables, so check cron commands separately.
- If compatibility errors appear, review the error log and restore the previous supported setting while correcting the application or extension issue.
Confirm the expected result
Use the application’s diagnostic page to confirm the effective web runtime. Remove any temporary public diagnostic file after checking because detailed PHP information can expose configuration.
Why is the PHP version unavailable or different from PHP Selector?
An unavailable or restricted version cannot be enabled by the account user. Do not confuse MultiPHP Manager with a separate CloudLinux PHP Selector supplied on some services. Ask which mechanism controls your domain before changing both.
