Set client-specific discounts in HostBill

hostbill, resellers

Use a client-specific HostBill discount for an approved customer agreement that should apply without requiring a public coupon. Record its scope and review date so a temporary concession does not become an unexplained permanent price reduction.

01 Configure the customer agreement

  1. Open Clients > Manage Clients, select the customer and open Settings & Automation.
  2. Review Client Discounts. Choose a global percentage only when the agreement genuinely covers the customer's full eligible catalogue.
  3. For a narrower agreement, configure the category, product or component-specific discount with the approved percentage or fixed amount. Check that similarly named products are not accidentally included.
  4. Record the commercial approval, covered services and intended duration in the appropriate internal record. If the agreement ends on a date, assign an operator to verify its removal or expiry behaviour.
  5. Create a controlled order for one included product and one excluded product. Compare the cart, invoice and recurring account amount.
  6. Test any interaction with coupons, component exclusions, tax and existing account pricing. Use the calculated result shown by your installation rather than assuming discounts always stack or apply in a particular order.

02 Review existing services

Check a representative existing account before applying current pricing in bulk. A stored recurring amount may reflect an earlier agreement. Use the account's price comparison or recalculation workflow to review the proposed difference and preserve the agreed rate where required.

Give billing and support staff a short explanation of the customer's agreement so they can distinguish an intentional discount from a pricing error.

Common questions

Should I change the product's public price for one customer?

A product-wide change can affect other orders and services. Use the customer-specific discount or an explicitly agreed account price for an individual arrangement.

Why did an old account keep a different recurring price?

Compare the stored account amount, existing discount and current product calculation. Decide whether the historical amount should remain before using a recalculation or bulk price change.
