Choose HostBill's account-creation trigger according to when your business is ready to commit provider resources. Order creation, payment receipt and administrator acceptance are different events, and they can happen at different times.
01 Select the creation rule
- Open the product under Settings > Products & Services and review Automation.
- Choose the appropriate Auto-create behaviour: when the order is placed, when the first payment is received, when an administrator manually accepts the pending order, or after payment with processing by cron.
- For services that require verification or a capacity check, use a workflow that includes the necessary review before resource creation. Do not enable creation on order placement merely to make a pending order disappear faster.
- Check the client's Settings & Automation for an override. An individual customer's configuration can make the same product behave differently.
- Verify the product's application connection and package settings, then confirm that both cron and queue processing work for delayed or background actions.
- Test the chosen trigger using a controlled order. Record the order status, invoice payment status, service status and provider result at each stage.
02 Validate the first service period
If customers may pay several days after ordering, review Adjust Initial Period and the intended start date. Confirm that the next invoice and due date match the service period you promised. Also check when the welcome message is sent so it does not announce usable access before provisioning succeeds.
Common questions
Why is a paid service still pending?
The product may require manual acceptance or scheduled processing. Review its creation rule, customer override and queue result. If a remote action failed, check whether the provider already created the account before trying again.
Should I click Create repeatedly after a timeout?
No. A timeout can occur after the provider completed the request. Verify the remote account and task history first, then perform one appropriate recovery action for the existing service record.
