Configuring product reviews and verified-owner labels

wordpress

Configure product reviews so customers can share useful feedback and understand which reviewers are recognised as purchasers. Review settings, per-product controls and moderation all affect what appears on the storefront.

01 Choose the review policy

Decide whether reviews require a rating, whether only verified owners may submit them and how moderation will work. Keep the policy consistent and provide a process for reporting inappropriate content. Do not manufacture reviews or present staff-written marketing copy as independent customer feedback.

02 Configure WooCommerce

  1. Open WooCommerce > Settings > Products and locate the reviews and ratings options.
  2. Enable product reviews if the store will collect them.
  3. Choose whether to display verified-owner labels and whether review submission is limited to recognised purchasers.
  4. Configure star ratings and any rating requirement.
  5. Edit a sample product and confirm its individual review control allows reviews.
  6. Save and test the product page using an appropriate customer account.

What does verified owner mean?

It indicates that WooCommerce recognises a purchase relationship for the reviewer under its matching rules. It is not an independent identity check or a guarantee that the review is accurate. Test the store's guest and registered purchase flows so the label behaves as expected for your customers.

Why is the review form missing?

Check global review settings, the product-level setting, purchaser restrictions and the active product-page template. A custom theme or page builder may omit the review area even when reviews are enabled. Test with a standard compatible layout on staging before adding another review plugin.

03 Moderate and respond thoughtfully

Review new submissions through the applicable WordPress or WooCommerce review-management screen. Remove spam and private customer information according to a clear policy, while retaining legitimate critical feedback. A useful public response can explain the resolution without exposing order details, email addresses or payment information.

04 Verify after design changes

Check that ratings and review text remain readable on mobile, that submission errors are understandable and that customers do not accidentally post sensitive information. If you migrate to a different review system, plan how existing reviews and purchase labels will be transferred rather than assuming they automatically appear in the new component.
