Google provides a limited opportunity to restore a recently deleted managed user. Act promptly after an accidental deletion. The standard restoration window is up to 20 days, subject to the documented conditions, and you should not treat it as a substitute for a preservation plan.

01 Check the prerequisites
Confirm the deletion date, original primary address and organisation. Check that a suitable licence is available and that the address has not been reassigned to another user or alias. A new account with the same name is not the same as restoring the deleted account.
- Sign in to the organisation's Google Admin console as a super administrator.
- Open Directory > Users, then choose More options > Recently deleted users.
- Locate the intended user, choose Recover and review the confirmation before continuing.
- Select the appropriate organisational unit and resolve any licence or address-conflict message through the approved process.
- Choose Recover and allow the restoration to complete. Confirm that the account returns to the directory; a previously suspended user or one whose data was transferred can return in a suspended state.
- Review authentication and decide whether the account should remain suspended while data is recovered.
02 Verify recovered data
Check representative Gmail content, untransferred Drive files and calendar information according to Google's documented recovery scope. Data already transferred or permanently removed may require a different investigation. Record missing items precisely instead of assuming everything returned because the user name is visible.
What if Google no longer offers restoration of the deleted user?
Read the actual reason, including expired recovery time, insufficient licence capacity or an address conflict. Do not delete a new business account to resolve the conflict without reviewing its data first. Escalate promptly with the original user, deletion time and error.
After recovery, correct the process that caused the deletion. For a legitimate staff departure, use the preservation and transfer workflow before a later final deletion. Keep independent records of essential business information so the organisation does not depend on a short account-recovery window.
