Checking free-domain eligibility with your hosting order

account-help, domains-dns

A free domain is a benefit of a specific qualifying package or promotion. Check the domain offer attached to your current hosting order, including its extension, registration period and billing-cycle requirements. Do not assume that every NabWP or Web Hosting package, renewal or trial includes a free domain.

01 Understand registration, hosting and domain transfers

Domain registration and hosting perform different jobs. Registration keeps your chosen name registered for its term; hosting provides the environment that serves the website. You can normally use an existing domain with a suitable hosting service without registering the same name again. The domain's DNS then needs to point its web traffic to the right destination while preserving email and other services.

A domain transfer is also different from pointing an existing domain to new hosting. You may be able to change the website's hosting while keeping its registration with the current registrar. Ask us to explain the appropriate option if your goal is simply to launch or move the website.

02 Check the domain promotion before ordering

If an order includes a domain promotion, check which extensions qualify, the included registration period and the later renewal price. A promotional first registration does not by itself promise free renewals forever. Also check whether the offer is available during the trial or only with a qualifying paid order. Additional products appearing at checkout should be reviewed separately.

Before buying another domain, confirm which name your business wants to use and whether you already control it. If you need help with the offer, send us the selected hosting plan, billing cycle and desired domain so we can check the actual eligibility and charges.

03 Example: keep a domain you already own

Your business already owns example.com and wants to move its website to us. A hosting promotion mentions an eligible free domain, but you do not need another name for this project.

  1. Check which account currently manages example.com and record its registration renewal date.
  2. Use the existing-domain route for the hosting order rather than attempting to register the same name again.
  3. Review the selected hosting order to see whether the promotion applies to a separate eligible registration and whether you actually want it.
  4. Connect the existing domain using the hosting instructions while keeping its registration active.

Expected result: your chosen website name remains registered and points to the intended hosting. The order does not acquire an unnecessary additional domain simply because a promotion is available.

Is a free domain the same as connecting an existing domain?

No. Connecting an existing domain directs its website traffic to the hosting service. A free-domain offer concerns an eligible registration under the specific promotion, and the existing registration still has its own renewal.

  1. Check whether the selected paid order explicitly includes an eligible domain and the registration term covered.
  2. Compare its later renewal amount and any extension restrictions before accepting the offer.
  3. If you already own the name, choose the existing-domain route and keep its registrar renewal active while connecting the hosting.

Changing nameservers points services to a different DNS provider; it does not transfer registration or cancel the previous registrar. A domain transfer is a separate process with its own eligibility and timing. Check any trial order carefully because a free hosting period does not automatically include a domain purchase.
