Importing and exporting OX calendar data

email

Import an iCalendar file into OX when moving a personal schedule or retaining a historical calendar. Treat the import as a copy of event data, not an automatic transfer of the original organiser's meeting relationships.

01 Export appointments from OX

For one appointment, open its calendar pop-up and choose More actions > Export. You can also select one or more appointments in list view and use the toolbar's More actions menu. OX downloads an iCalendar file.

For all appointments in a calendar, select the intended personal or public calendar in the folder view, open its Actions menu and choose Export. Keep the downloaded file in an approved location and verify representative events before removing the source. An export is a copy at that time; future changes will require another supported transfer or subscription workflow.

02 Import a clean copy

  1. Export the source calendar as an iCalendar file and preserve the original export.
  2. In OX Calendar, open the actions beside New appointment and choose Import file.
  3. Upload the file, give the new calendar a clear name and start the import.
  4. Inspect several past, future, all-day and recurring events.
  5. Check time zones and important descriptions before making the imported calendar part of your daily view.

03 Understand meeting ownership

The documented calendar-file import removes the original participants and adds the importing user. Plan future shared meetings separately with the correct organiser and attendees. Do not assume importing an event makes you able to update the original invitation in everyone else's calendar.

Common questions

Will future source changes arrive automatically?

A file import is a snapshot. For a continuing read-only external feed, consider the supported calendar-subscription workflow and its access requirements.

Why do I see duplicates?

Repeated imports or dragging the same file into an existing calendar can create duplicate events. Use a clearly named trial calendar and inspect it before importing again.

Can I remove a failed trial safely?

First verify that the trial calendar contains only imported test data and no new meetings created during review. Export anything needed, then remove the trial through the calendar controls.

Keep the old service available until the calendar, contacts and mail have each been checked. Successful email migration says nothing about whether recurring meetings or shared-calendar permissions were preserved.
