01 Recover from Trash
- Open the affected OX mailbox and select Trash.
- Search for the message by sender, subject or date.
- Select the correct item and choose Move from its actions menu.
- Choose Inbox or another appropriate folder and complete the move.
- Open the restored message and verify its attachment and conversation context. Check a connected device after synchronisation.
02 If it is not in Trash
Search other folders and Spam. Review recent rules, archive actions and local mail applications. A message moved by a rule has a different recovery path from one permanently deleted.
Common questions
Can permanently deleted mail always be restored?
No. Availability depends on the service's actual recovery features and retention. Use any recovery control exposed by your account and contact us promptly with the details. Do not assume a fixed recovery window from another provider applies.
Why did the message disappear from every device?
With synchronised mail, a deletion on one device can be reflected on the server and other devices. A second device is not necessarily an independent backup.
What details should I provide?
Give the mailbox, sender, subject fragment, approximate arrival and deletion times, last known folder and whether Trash was emptied. Avoid deleting and recreating the mailbox during the investigation.
After recovery, identify the cause. Correct an overly broad rule or deletion setting and establish an appropriate backup or retention process for business-critical correspondence. A successful recovery of one item does not guarantee that future permanent deletions will be recoverable.
