The sender name is the text recipients see beside an OX email address. Set it to identify the person or department accurately, then test the actual received message. Changing this name does not rename the mailbox address.

01 Update the identity
- Open the OX service's account management in our client area and select the mailbox.
- Use Manage Account to review Display Name, First Name and Last Name.
- In OX webmail, also inspect the primary account settings if the outgoing name differs. A value in the account's Your name field can override the default sender name.
- Compose a fresh message using the intended primary address or alias.
- Send it to an external test account and inspect the actual From field, not only the recipient's contact-card label.
02 Keep the identity consistent
Use the same approved spelling in the mailbox, signature and published contact information. For a department mailbox, make it clear which business the department belongs to. Avoid promotional text or unrelated keywords in the sender name.
Common questions
Why does one recipient still see the old name?
The recipient may have saved an older contact name. Ask them to inspect the message source or test with an account that has no saved contact. Compare this with messages sent from another device.
Will this change my email address?
No. A display-name change and a mailbox-address change are different operations. If the actual address must change, review aliases, incoming delivery and published references separately.
Why do desktop messages use another name?
A mail application can supply its own display name. Review that application's account identity after confirming webmail is correct. Do not repeatedly modify a working server profile to compensate for a single device's old setting.
